Recommended alfalfa hay & timothy hay ratio for different life stages of a rabbit

Rabbit Hay Feeding
recommended alfalfa hay & timothy hay ratio

Age:1-2 weeks
(80% alfalfa & 20% timothy)

Age:3-4 weeks old
(60% alfalfa & 40% timothy)

Age:5-7 weeks
(40% alfalfa & 60% timothy)

7 weeks to 6 months old
( 20% alfalfa and 80% timothy)

Babies can & should get alfalfa until about 6 months old , then switched to timothy at that point.

When choosing hay , make sure it looks & smells fresh.
DO NOT choose hay that looks brown or moldy or not longer smells fresh cut grass.

Storing hay:
Store hay in a dry place in a container that allows air flow to keep it from getting moldy.
